About the Position

You will be a key member of the Data Integrations team and working side-by-side with our developers in a collaborative environment to take us to the future.  For each of our customers, we take in their data from multiple sources.  Your job will be to understand the data sources, ensure complete and accurate documentation and troubleshoot data issues. You will be the primary liaison between the Customer Success team and our internal development teams on the subject of data interchange.

The future is all about big data and how to make sense of it all.  Data scientists are at the cutting edge of these new technologies, using advanced algorithms and machine learning to make better sense of all of this data.  Agilence has embarked on a path to lead the data science initiative and you can be on that cutting edge too!  You will be part of the team that is making sense of all this customer data and getting it into the system.

Do you already have experience with complex data integrations?  Are you fluent in XML, JSON, REST, delimited, fixed field, binary and multi-record files?  Great!  You have a head start.  Do you also have experience with Point-of-Sale system transaction log files?  You’ve got a very far ahead start. But it’s not enough … check out the “Who are you” section below because we’re serious about cultural fit here at Agilence.

  • Take ownership of the technical business analysis for data integration.
  • Review all new/updated files and specifications for completeness and accuracy.
  • Uncover missing details in the specifications and document gaps for the development team.
  • Map data fields between customer sources and Agilence targets and document necessary transformations.
  • Ensure that all questions between the developers and the Customer Success team regarding the data or specifications are answered in a timely fashion.
  • Troubleshoot issues with data parsing.
  • Drive continuous improvements to help deliver new integrations more rapidly.

Must-Have Requirements

  • 3-5 years of prior experience as a technical business analyst in a data/file integration capacity.
  • Fluency in multiple file formats such as XML, JSON, REST, delimited, fixed field, binary and multi-record files.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server technologies including writing basic queries.
  • Great troubleshooting / problem solving skills!
  • Great communications skills (both written and verbal)!
  • Attention to detail!

Nice to Have Requirements

  • Experience with Point-of-Sale system transaction log files and formats.
  • Experience with eCommerce system transaction log files and formats.
  • Experience with any of the commercial ETL / Integration tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, Dell Boomi, IBM Data Stage / Transformation Extender, etc.

If you meet all of the must-have requirements above, then check out the “Who You Are” section below. If you fit that description, then send us a resume and let’s talk.

Our Culture

You’ll get to work side-by-side with some of the brightest people on the east coast.  In fact, we only hire one out of every 10 developers we interview.  And we have fun too.  No ties here.  Jeans and t-shirts are the dress code here and we have game nights with beer pong, lunch-n-learns and we’ve even been known to knock off early and head to the FunPlex for go cart racing and laser tag.

Who are you?

This is where we typically put all the cookie cutter stuff like “self-motivated, go getter, etc.”.  But, at Agilence we find that to be so passé.  Here’s what we really need:

  • You were a great student. Nothing gets you ready for hard core problem solving like a fundamental understanding of the basics.
  • You’ve got some experience under your belt. You’ve been working full-time as a technical business analyst for at least 3 years and you’ve got experience with data/file integrations.
  • You love to understand and solve intellectual challenges. Does diving in on the details make you happy?  If so, then you are the person we want.
  • You have no fear. Embrace the unknown.  There are so many cool things to be accomplished.
  • You are an explorer and risk taker. We can teach you what we do, but, unless you have that thirst for knowledge, you won’t fit in.  We want people who see a new tool or technology and test it out just because it looks cool.
  • You aren’t afraid to fail. What? Edison said he found 10,000 ways not to make a light bulb before he made it work.  We are going to break a few eggs here and make some mistakes.  They are learning experiences and we embrace them.
  • You are not a slacker. We work fast and we still deliver high quality results.  This job is not for the timid.  We are going to teach you and we work as a team.  As part of that team, it’s all or nothing.  Either you succeed as a team or you don’t.   You won’t let them down.

At the end of the day it’s all about results.  We need coworkers who are hard-working and fast learners.  We’ll give you the tools you need to succeed and teach you how to use them.  But, you have to have that drive and motivation to take it to the next level and try to do things no one else has done before.

We are always looking at new technologies and new tools.  We want you to bring new ideas to the group and help us move into the future.

And don’t be afraid to speak up if you see something wrong.  Everyone here has the ability, the obligation, to stop the process if we heading down a bad path.  Whether it’s a UI feature or a fundamental architecture change, we need your feedback and advice.  Your input is priceless!
